Anne Øland

Anne Øland (1949-2015) studied at the Royal Danish Academy of Music under Professor Herman D. Koppel. Later she studied with Guido Agosti in Rome, Hans Leygraf in Salzburg, and Nikita Magaloff in Geneva. She made her debut in 1977 and received the artist's prize of the Music Reviewers' Circle in the same year. Her other distinctions include the Jacob Gade Prize, grants from the Leonie Sonning Fund, the Tagea Brandt Memorial Scholarship, and the distinguished artist's award of the Carl Nielsen and Anne Marie Carl-Nielsen Foundation. In 1978 Anne Øland won first prize at the Nordic Competition for Young Pianists, and she made her Wigmore Hall debut in London in 1981. She appeared frequently as a soloist and as a chamber musician, played with all the Danish orchestras, and toured in most of Europe, Russia and the United States. Her CD recordings include the complete works of Schumann for cello and piano, the complete piano works of Carl Nielsen, and the Beethoven piano sonatas. Since 1981 Anne Øland was a Lecturer at the Royal Danish Academy of Music.
