Jakob Næslund Madsen was born in 1973 and graduated from the Royal Academy of Music in Aarhus in 1998 and from the Opera Academy in 2002 with Susanna Eken as his teacher. He has also received instruction from Lars Ulrik Mortensen and the English tenor Anthony Rolfe Johnson.
Jakob Næslund Madsen has sung a number of major roles on Danish opera stages including Don Ottavio (in Don Giovanni), Ferrando (in Così fan tutte), Tamino (in The Magic Flute), Count Almaviva (in The Barber of Seville), Oronte (in Alcina), Goffredo (in Rinaldo). He is also a sought-after oratorio soloist; as such he has appeared with all the Danish regional orchestras, and with several Baroque ensembles including , as well as the symphony orchestras in Bergen, Stavanger and Helsingborg.
