Håkan Björkman

Håkan Björkman is a solo trombonist in the Royal Swedish Orchestra and the Chamber Orchestra of Europe, and is considered by many to be Sweden’s best trombonist. He also works at present in the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra. He appears regularly as a soloist and has been heard on radio and TV as well as with orchestras like the Royal Swedish Philharmonic, the Östgöta Wind Symphonists and the Västerås Sinfonietta. He teaches at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm. Håkan Björkman has been awarded the Royal Swedish Academy of Music’s highest scholarship for brass musicians in 1992 and 1996 and has won First Prize in the 2nd International Christian Lindberg Solo Competition 2008. In 2010 he was mentioned favourably on the BBC’s “Listen to the band” for his solo CD.
