Saturday, Danish Radio P2 unveiled the winners of P2 Prisen (P2 Music Award), which is awarded annually to artists, composers and the best classical releases of the year. The title Album of the Year, Classical was awarded to Peter Heise: The Song Edition, which for the first time presents Heise's almost 300 songs, edited by pianist Christian Westergaard.

18 different prominent Scandinavian singers have recorded Heise's treasury of songs on 11 CDs that cover various themes and paint a portait of a true master of melody. Heise didn't draw much attention to his songs, which were never published internationally, despite them being some of the best that has been written in the genre by a Danish composer. 

The jury writes about the winning album: 

 "A great achievement. This first complete recording of Peter Heise's almost 300 songs, of which many have never before been recorded, is in itself a wildly impressing project. A treasury filled with Romantic melodiousness and atmosphere in luxurious recordings with a large number of our best singers and with pianist Christian Westergaard as a phenomenal officer."
