The famous Romanian conductor Sergiu Celibidache once said: “Only the consciousness of the future in the new millennium will be able to fully understand the powers of Per Nørgård's music”. Indeed, Per Nørgård (b. 1932) unlocks new perceptions and a new awareness of the world with his music, and he has made an impact as the leading Danish composer of his time thanks not least to his orchestral works.
This Dacapo CD presents three milestones of Nørgård's work, starting with the breakthrough work Voyage into the Golden Screen from 1968, composed in accordance with Nørgård's unique 'infinity principle'. In Dream Play (1975), Per Nørgård demonstrates the loving aspects of humanity, whereas disaster looms in the world of the violin concerto Borderlines (2002), and Dacapo proudly presents this recent work of Nørgård's in the excellent hands of British violinist Rebecca Hirsch.Per NørgårdBorderlines (Violin Concerto No. 2) (2002)
