Andrea Pellegrini

Andrea Pellegrini is one of Denmark’s leading mezzo-sopranos and one of the country’s most sought-after singers, both in opera and concert settings. She trained at the Royal Danish Academy of Music and the Opera Academy. In 2008, she received the Music Critics’ Association’s Artist Award and has since been honoured with numerous accolades, most recently the Wilhelm Hansen Foundation’s Honorary Award in 2020. In 2015, she was nominated for a Reumert Award as ‘Danish Singer of the Year’. Pellegrini made her debut at the Royal Danish Theatre as Rosina in The Barber of Seville in 2006. Since then, she has performed many prominent roles both there and on other stages across the country, including the title role in Carmen and Amneris in Aida at Opera Hedeland in 2019 and 2022.
Additionally, she has appeared as Eboli in Verdi’s Don Carlos in Stockholm. Throughout her career, Pellegrini has shown a particular interest in presenting the classical music tradition in new contexts. This has led to innovative collaborations, including with multi-artist Martin Hall, interpretations of Beatles songs on television, and concerts with Steffen Brandt and Jacob Binzer. In 2012, she founded The Piazzolla Orchestra, with whom she has twice performed as a guest at the Bergen International Festival and toured throughout Denmark.
