Mezzo-soprano Sophie Haagen, a graduate of the Royal Danish Opera Academy, has established herself as a significant voice on both the Danish and international stages since her debut at the Royal Danish Theatre in 2020. Her versatile repertoire ranges from roles such as Flora in La traviata and Arbate in Mitridateto contemporary parts like New Ofglen in Ruders’ The Handmaid’s Taleand Artemisia in Matias Vestergård’s Lisbon Floor. She gained particular international acclaim as the Composer in Ariadne auf Naxosat both the Royal Danish Theatre and Teatro Verdi in Trieste, and in 2025 she performed the role of Queen Gertrud in the premiere of Ruders’ The Thirteenth Child. In 2026, her engagements include collaborations with Copenhagen Phil and Teatro Verdi, among others. Haagen has received several prestigious honours, including the Léonie Sonning Talent Prize, the Reumert Talent Prize, and 1st Prize at the Copenhagen Lied Duo Competition.
