One of the most exciting performers of his generation, Nicolas Hodges is active in several fields and has a substantial repertoire spanning the nineteenth century to today. He is well known in the field of contemporary music and has close working relationships with many composers including Adams, Birtwistle, Carter, Ferneyhough, Harvey, Kagel, Knussen, Lachenmann, Neuwirth, Nørgård and Stockhausen. He regularly premieres works written for him. Hodges’s career has taken him to all the major UK and European festivals, to Japan, and to the US. His concerto engagements have included performances with the BBC Symphony, BBC Scottish, City of Birmingham Symphony, Philharmonia, Chicago Symphony, MET Chamber Ensemble, Helsinki and Stockholm Philharmonics, Bamberger Symphoniker, SWR and WDR orchestras Germany, Tokyo Philharmonic, and Asko-Schoenberg Ensemble, under conductors such as Barenboim, Brabbins, Masson, Levine, Nott, Rophé, Saraste, Slatkin, Valade and Zender. Since April 2005 he has been Professor of Piano at the Musikhochschule Stuttgart.
