Morten Ernst Lassen made his operatic debut as Papageno in Mozart’s The Magic Flute in the Masonic Hall in Copenhagen in 1993. This was the start of an opera and concert career that has taken him all over Europe and Australia. In 1996-97 he was engaged by the Tiroler Landestheater in Innsbruck, and then from the autumn of 1997 he became a member of the soloist ensemble at the Deutsche Oper Berlin. After that he appeared in over thirty of the theatre’s productions – from Mozart through Puccini to Weill. He left the ensemble in 2001. On the concert stage Morten Ernst Lassen’s repertoire ranges over the Bach passions, cantatas and masses, Fauré’s Requiem, Mahler’s orchestral songs and contemporary music by among others Krenek and Toch. He also engages in widespread concert activities as a Lieder singer, an area in which he has garnered great recognition for his interpretations. Morten Ernst Lassen has worked with conductors as prominent as Claudio Abbado, Herbert Blomstedt, Philippe Herrewhege and Christian Thielemann.
