Matthias Aeschbacher

Matthias Aeschbacher (b. 1945) comes from a family of musicians in Zürich, where his father, Adrian Aeschbacher, gave him his basic musical training as a pianist. He did his training as a conductor at the Zürich Opera House, where he subsequently filled a post as principal conductor for almost eight years. Matthias Aeschbacher has also been general director of music for ten years in Lübeck, and has regularly conducted the biggest symphony and opera orchestras in Europe. From 1991 until 1998 Matthias Aeschbacher was principal conductor at the Theatre and Philharmonia in Essen. He has several times conducted the Odense and South Jutland Symphony Orchestras. Matthias Aeschbacher has also participated in a number of CD recordings with among others the Russian pianist Oleg Marshev. Matthias Aeschbacher is principal conductor of the Aalborg Symphony Orchestra.
