Lothar Odinius was born in Aachen in Germany, where he began his studies in 1989. He has worked with Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau and has taken on notable roles like Tamino in The Magic Flute, the title role in Schubert's religious drama Lazarus at the 1995 Schubertiad in Feldkirch, the same composer's Fierrabras in Berlin with Claudio Abbado and Ferrando in Così fan tutte with Andras Schiff as conductor. Outside the opera stage Lothar Odinius has worked with Franz Welser-Möst, Philippe Herreweghe, Bruno Weil, Nikolaus Harnoncourt, Helmuth Rilling, Ton Koopmann and Thomas Hengelbrock. Among his cd-recordings are Bach's Mass in h-minor with Helmuth Rilling and Franz Schmidt's Das Buch mit sieben Siegeln with Frans Welser-Möst.
