Baritone Jens Søndergaard graduated from the Royal Opera Academy in Copenhagen in 2003 and made his debut at the Royal Academy of Music in 2005. From 2004-07 he was a part of the soloist ensemble at Deutsches Nationaltheater in Weimar. In 2017-19 and since 2020 he has been a member of the soloist ensemble at the Royal Danish Opera. His operatic repertoire is wide ranging, from the baroque to contemporary music. In the last 2 years he has moved into roles such as Onegin, Scarpia and Wotan. As a concert singer he is frequently engaged with the major orchestras in Denmark, performing among others Ein Deutsches Requiem, Messiah, St Matthew Passion. He has received numerous among others the Aksel Schiøtz Prize, the Aalborg Opera Prize and the A.M. Mortensen Scholarship.
