Ellen Gottschalch was a Danish actress. From 1912 to 1928, she was the leading lady for folk comedy and operetta at Det Ny Teater, with her breakthrough performance in Frk. Nitouche (1915). Her popularity within this genre was further solidified at Nørrebro Teater in the late 1930s. From 1941 to 1961, she performed at The Royal Danish Theatre, appearing in both classical repertoire (Holberg, Ibsen) and modern drama, such as Arthur Miller's Death of a Salesman (1950). On film, she remarkably mastered both the light-musical and the tragic-realistic in movies like Sommerglæder (1940), Billet Mrk. (1946), Ta', hvad du vil ha' (1947), and Mød mig på Cassiopeia (1951).
