Dybfølt

Dybfølt is a duo dedicated to musical immersion – a journey into exploring depth and finding calm, care, and intimacy in music. With the cello and double bass, the two deepest instruments in the string family, as their foundation, the duo has crafted a unique sound and repertoire.
The duo’s members, cellist Kirstine Elise Pedersen and double bassist Mathæus Bech, share a background in classical music and a mutual love for Nordic folk music. They first connected through this musical community, and folk music has since shaped their artistic expression. Their music combines the finesse of classical music with the vibrant energy of folk traditions.
Dybfølt’s repertoire is marked by originality, drawing inspiration from both classical music and Nordic folk melodies. A particular interest in the Danish composer Rued Langgaard has also shaped the duo’s artistic profile, and they have carefully arranged his works to explore new depths in their musical expression.
In March 2024, Dybfølt, alongside vocalist Kira Martini, released the album Sange fra en væg (Songs from a Wall) on Dacapo Records. In this project, they delve into the music of Danish electronic music pioneer Else Marie Pade, who composed a series of personal and seemingly innocent songs during her time interned in the Frøslev Camp during World War II.
