Camillo Carlsen

composer
1876
1948
For many years Camillo Carlsen was the Cathedral Organist in Roskilde, and most of his compositions are organ works or sacred vocal music. His sacred music is in the Romantic tradition; for example his Symphonic Suite for organ is an emotional interpretation of one of the Psalms. Camillo Carlsen also wrote songs and some chamber music, including four string quartets and two quintets. From his later years come several major orchestral works, but for Camillo Carlsen too, conditions in the provinces gave his music few chances for wide dissemination.
