BBC Singers

ensemble
As Britain’s only full-time professional chamber choir, the BBC Singers occupy a unique position
in British musical life. For more than 75 years the group has commissioned, premiered and recorded new works by many of the twentieth century’s key composers – Poulenc, Britten, Tippett, Boulez and Berio amongst them – and worked with some of its most eminent conductors. World-renowned for their dynamic performances of contemporary music, the Singers perform and record choral music from the early Renaissance onwards. The BBC Singers continue to play an important part in the life of the BBC as well as the wider musical community. Regular education work with composers and the Royal Academy of Music helps train and enthuse future generations of voice students, composers and conductors. At the same time, the BBC Singers continue to explore the farthest reaches of the choral repertoire, adding to it by commissioning and performing new and challenging choral works.
