Baroque-harp virtuoso Andrew Lawrence-King is one of the world’s leading performers of early music. A creative and inspiring director from the continuo (harp, organ, harpsichord, or psaltery), he has led baroque operas, oratorios, and chamber music at La Scala, Milan; Sydney Opera House; Casals Hall, Tokyo; Berlin Philharmonie; Vienna Konzerthaus; Moscow Philharmonic, New York’s Carnegie Hall; and Mexico City’s Palacio de Bellas Artes.

In 1994 Andrew Lawrence-King formed The Harp Consort, with whom he has made an award-winning series of cds, from medieval pop-songs to South American dances and baroque operas. In 2011, he won a Grammy as harp soloist for Jordi Savall’s Hesperion XXI.

Andrew Lawrence-King is professor of Early Harp at Guildhall School of Music & Drama, London, and tutor for Early Harp & Continuo at the Royal Danish Academy of Music, Copenhagen. He is principal guest conductor of Concerto Copenhagen. As Senior Visiting Research Fellow at the Australian Centre of Excellence for the History of Emotions, he is investigating medieval and early baroque music-drama.
