Jaap ter Linden is one of the best known Baroque musicians in Europe. As one of the pioneer specialists in this field he was a co-founder of several of the Baroque groups that now occupy a central position on the international music scene. Together with fellow-Dutchman Ton Koopman he established the Musica da Camera ensemble, and later became member of Musica Antiqua Köln, The English Concert, and last but not least the Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra, where he is still principal cellist. Jaap ter Linden has made numerous recordings with these groups and with other leading Baroque musicians such as René Jacobs, Gustav Leonhardt, and Peter Schreier. He teaches at the music conservatory in The Hague and at the Early Music Academy in Bremen, and gives courses and master classes throughout Europe. His regular chamber music partners indude John Holloway, Lars Ulrik Mortensen, Alexei Lubimov, and Ulrike Wild. He is also a wellknown interpreter of Bachs suites for solo cello.
