Tivoli Concert Choir

ensemble
The Tivoli Concert Choir was formed in 1990, when it made its debut with a highly acclaimed performance of Mozart's Requiem. Since then the choir has participated in innumerable performances of passions, masses, oratorios, symphonies and requiems with a number of Danish and foreign orchestras and soloists. Under the baton of some of the best conductors in Danish and European music, the choir has developed rapidly, and has emerged today as an ensemble with great experience. Particularly good reviews have made the Tivoli Concert Choir a name as an important factor in the Danish musical world, and the choir enjoys the support of the best Danish chamber choirs and many enthusiastic individual members. On this recording the Tivoli Concert Choir consists of singers from the chamber choirs Sokkelund Sangkor and Camerata, both among the absolute elite on the Danish choral scene. Both choirs have an unusually wide a cappella repertoire, appear regularly on radio and TV, and have recorded CDs, including contemporary Danish works. Since it started the choir has been directed by Morten Schuldt-Jensen, who is responsible for rehearsals with the changing ensembles of singers, and he has occasionally conducted the choir himself at concerts. Morten Schuldt-Jensen trained in music theory at the University of Copenhagen, and in singing and choral and orchestral conducting at the Royal Danish Academy of Music in Copenhagen, where he now teaches. He also teaches at the Department of Music of the University of Copenhagen and at continuation courses for conductors in Denmark, Germany and Norway. As a conductor Morten Schuldt-Jensen has worked with a number of Danish and foreign symphony orchestras and choirs.
