The Historic Organ. The Compenius Organ at Frederiksborg Castle

Per Kynne Frandsen
The Compenius Orgn at Frederiksborg Palace Chapel, built in 1610 and taken to Frederiksborg as a gift to Christian IV in 1617, has been fortunate in being spared ravages of fire and other forms of destruction. After a thorough restoration the organ now appears in its full splendour, and can give us a living impression of music in Denmark in the seventeenth century, as it would have sounded at the court, in the church, in instructional contexts and at private gatherings.
