Sonatas for violin and piano are among the most well-loved genres in the chamber music of the late 19th century. As both a chamber music and salon music genre the violin sonata permits the large-scale, the effectful, the impressive and the festive as well as the emotive or sentimental. This CD displays the whole palette featuring the music of three excellent Danish fin-de-siècle composers: Hakon Børresen, Louis Glass, and Fini Henriques.
