Danish composer Rued Langgaard (1893-1952) had one of the most remarkable careers – and was perhaps the greatest musical talent – in all of Danish music. The Danish music world looked askance at Rued Langgaard, a lonely eccentric who was the only Dane to go all the way with Late Romanticism.

It was not until the late-1960s that people became aware of Langgaard's often unique musical idiom, since when a large part of the Langgaard's more than 400 works have been recorded.

As the latest of these recordings the third and final album of the series comprising Langgaard's collected works for violin and piano has been released, performed by the two Langgaard specialists Gunvor Sihm and Berit Johansen Tange.

Johansen Tange has also recorded three albums with Langgaard's works for solo piano, and Gunvor Sihm, as a member of the Nightingale String Quartet, has recorded all of Langgaard's string quartets.

Dacapo has asked Berit Johansen Tange to compile a playlist of her personal Langgaard favourites. This enables you to explore Rued Langgaard's universe via her expert recommendations.
