Orkesterværker
Komponisten C.F.E. Horneman (1840-1906) blev hyldet af sin berømte landsmand Carl Nielsen som "den klare Flamme, den spillende Ild i den danske Musik". Selv kæmpede den følsomme komponist med et iltert temperament, og hans samlede værkproduktion blev ganske lille. Denne nye udgivelse med DR SymfoniOrkestret og den unge svenske dirigent Johannes Gustavsson præsenterer et udvalg af Hornemans storslåede orkesterværker, som alle har baggrund i mytologiske og historiske dramaer: Ouverture Heroïque fra hans unge år samt tre store, modne værker: Kalanus, Thamyris og Gurre-Suite.
