Rune Glerup (b. 1981) studied with a number of composers in Denmark and abroad, among others, Walter Zimmermann in Berlin, and Niels Rosing Schow, Bent Sørensen and Hans Peter Stubbe Teglbjærg in composition and electroacoustics in the soloistclass at the Royal Danish Academy of Music in Copenhagen, which he finished with a debut/portrait concert in 2010 with the London Sinfonietta. Further studies at IRCAM 2010-12. He has participated in masterclasses with Phillippe Leroux, Phillippe Manoury, Hans Peter Kyburz, Dennis Smalley, Ivan Fedele, Rolf Wallin and Adriana Hölszky. His work has been rewarded with grants and prizes from the Danish Arts Foundation (a grant for young talents, a two year working grant and yearly working grants), the grant for young musicians from the Léonie Sonning Music Foundation and the Bisballe Prize awarded once per year to a young artist of extrordinary talent by a commitee of 6 of the most prominent danish artists. In 2012, one of his largest pieces 'Examples of Dust' for orchestra and live electronics was premiered by Ensemble Intercontemporain and Susanna Mälkki in collaboration with IRCAM (Institut de Recherce et Coordination Acoustique/Musique). His music has been performed by ensembles such as the London Sinfonietta, Ensemble Alternance, Ensemble Intercontemporain, Radio Sinfonieorchester Stuttgart des SWR, Ensemble TM+, Athelas Sinfonietta Copenhagen, Uusinta Ensemble, a.o. Besides that his music has been represented at festivals such as Printemps des Arts in Monte Carlo, Biennale Musica in Venice, Nordic Music Days, Young Nordic Music, Pulsar Festival , Athelas New Music Festival, Copenhagen Summer Festival, etc. From 2012 he has been Artistic Advisor for Athelas Sinfonietta Copenhagen and Artistic Director of KLANG Copenhagen Avantgarde Music Festival.
