Hans Abrahamsen is a pupil of Per Nørgård and Pelle Gudmundsen-Holmgreen, but his particular stylistic point of departure also reflects a specific trend in Danish music - the "New Simplicity" that emerged in the mid-sixties. Simplification and methodology are key concepts in Abrahamsen's works. He is one of his generation's most outstanding composers, and his orchestral work Nacht und Trompeten was first performed by the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra in 1982.
