Ludolf Nielsen, composer

About:
In these very different works we meet Ludolf Nielsen as a representative of Danish Symbolism. "The Tower of Babel" is a poem about the elevation of the human soul. The work was considered unplayable at its world premiere in 1916, and over 80 years were to pass before the music was heard again. "Forest Walk" describes the effects of nature on human beings in a series of mythological scenes with masterly orchestration.

Reviews

This is a most surprising discovery ... Their performances are utterly convincing

It appears that only two performances of The Tower of Babel ever took place--and goodness knows why, for this is a powerful and memorable work Like most of Danish Radio's Da Capo series devoted to Danish composers, this release is very highly recommended. Even if you've not come across this composer before, you can approach these works in the complete assurance that you'll find both tremendously rewarding"
