Niels W. Gade is one of the main figures in Danish Romaticism. His Elverskud is one of the best-known Danish works with dramatic action based on old Danish ballads. Along with Frülings-Phantasie, which was one of the most popular works in Gade's lifetime, Elverskud represents Danish Romatic Music at its finest.
