String Quartets

Copenhagen String Quartet

Christian Frederik Emil Horneman, composer
Friedrich Kuhlau, composer

About:
Though belonging to two different periods in the history of Danish music, Friederich Kuhlau and C.F.E. Horneman were kindred spirits in artistic and human terms. Kuhlaus quartet, his last work, is inspired by Betthoven's Quartet in A minor, op. 132. Horneman's is still fairly classical in style but contains features anticipating his later compositions, which exerted a major influence on the music of Carl Nielsen.
