Ole Schmidt is best known internationally as a conductor, but he is also a highly productive composer who has worked in every genre. Though his approach is eclectic, he has a basis in the Neoclassical tradition. His predilection for rhythmic drive and jazz-inspired harmony makes his music attractive to listen to.
