Dietrich Buxtehude, Danish-born organist and composer of vocal and organ music, sacred cantatas, and chorales. Buxtehude was the famed organist and composer whom J.S. Bach made a 200-mile journey on foot to hear. His keyboard music greatly influenced Bach with their clarity of line, nobility, and often daring harmonic invention. He was the greatest composer of Northern European Baroque in the period between Heinrich Schütz and J.S. Bach.

REPÉRTOIRE R 10

"Splendide: détail, aération, finesse et densité harmonique sont au rendez-vous. Bravo !" R 10 (Repértoire)

"A splendid Buxtehude collection from one of today's leading players, one who revels in the composer's invention and originality" (Gramophone)

" Like volume one in this series, this is an excellent recording. One cannot help but be amazed, yet again, at the variety of music Buxtehude wrote for the harpsichord, from moving suites to complex and fulfilling variations. A must-have recording, for anyone who likes harpsichord music. "
