John Frandsen

John Frandsen studied music at Aarhus University and also trained at the Royal Danish Academy of Music, Århus, in organ and composition with Hans Abrahamsen and Karl Aage Rasmussen as two of his teachers. Today he is the organist at Stavnsholt Church in Farum. Teacher at the Academy of Music and conductor of the Århus County Youth Symphony Orchestra. In 1993-95 he was chairman of the National Arts Foundation Composition Committee, last year also chairman of the board of the foundation. Since 1999 he is chairman of the board of the Danish Composers' Society and member of the board of The Other Opera. John Frandsen has made a name in music drama with several operas. He has also written other kinds of vocal compositions, organ music, chamber works and a symphony.
