Choir & Organ
A marriage made in heaven, Sørensen's utterly contemporary comments on Ockeghem's polyphony are a perfect partner. Hillier guides his exceptional choir through what can only be described as a spiritual event in a wonderfully spacious yet clear acoustic that supports a wide dynamic range and recorded in an almost three-dimensional soundscape. Gorgeously sung with superbly judged balance of colour and purity, this inter-leaving of old and new is profoundly moving and entrancing - one feels the vital blood beating below the voice and the living spirits of two composers fused across five centuries.
