Trained at the Rhythmic Music Academy in Copenhagen. Studied in Paris and London with Robert Jordan and Nelly Ben-Or. Further studies with Elisabeth Brodersen, Theresa Waskowska, Anne Øland, Duke Jordan, Horace Parlan, Butch Lacy, Ole Kock Hansen, Jørgen Emborg and Thomas Clausen. Has played with among others Lee Konitz, Palle Danielsson, Anders Kjellberg, Joakim Milder, Per Ekblad, Anders Jormin, Bob Brookmeyer, Lennart Ginman, Anders Mogensen and Christina von Bülow.
Since 1979 has composed for many different ensembles from solo to quintet in connection with concert activities, radio and TV programmes, CD and video production. Has accompanied choirs and vocalists freelance and at the National Theatre School. Søren has recorded three CDs in his own name, in a duo with Joakim Milder, in a duo with Kirsten Høj and now has the solo CD Passager out.
