With a technique that 'surpasses the boundaries of the possible on the piano' (De Standaard, Brussels), Rolf Hind has earned an enviable reputation as one of today's foremost interpreters of new music. Many of today's leading composers have written concertos for him, including Poul Ruders, Simon Holt and Unsuk Chin. He has recorded extensively on disc (including for the Nonesuch, Factory Classics, Virgin, Teldec, Bridge, Dacapo and NMC labels) and for radio, with sold-out recitals in the BBC's Elliot Carter festival and the South Bank's Xenakis Weekend broadcast on Radio 3. He has for many years enjoyed a close relationship with the BBC Symphony Orchestra and the London Sinfonietta. Rolf Hind plays frequently at new music festivals throughout the world; he has toured Korea, Taiwan and Cuba and has made appearances in Wellington, Perth and at the Sydney Opera House. In 2005 Rolf made his Carnegie Hall debut playing works by John Adams at the composer's invitation. He continues to win acclaim as a composer, and has received commissions from the BBC, Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival, the Brighton Festival, West Deutsche Rundfunk among others. The Independent described him as "one of the rare examples of a performer who can make a successful career as a composer". His piano concerto, "Maya-Sesha", commissioned by the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, will be premiered in March 2008. His piano piece "Solgata" is recorded on the NMC label, and his chamber work The Horse Sacrifice is on London Independent Records. His compositions are published by Ricordi London, and he is the current artistic director of SPNM.
