Immediately after graduating he was engaged by the Opera in Münster, where he sang many leading lyric tenor roles including Ferrando in Così fan tutte. In 1992-94 Peter Grønlund was a member of the Opera in Innsbruck, where he sang in works like Donizetti's The Daughter of the Regiment and Bellini's La Sonnambula. In Innsbruck, too, he appeared in the first performance of Carl Nielsen's Maskarade outside Scandinavia. In 1992 he guested at the Royal Danish Opera in Copenhagen as Don Ottavio in Don Giovanni.
