Per Høyer

Per Høyer began studying music at the University of Copenhagen in 1980. After majoring in singing, Per Høyer took private lessons in singing from 1985 with John Guttmann Sørensen, and in interpretation with Friedrich Gürtler, as well as drama studies with Niels Pihl and Una Stewart, instructor at the opera in Seattle. For brief periods Per Høyer has studied singing with Anna Reynolds, Ingrid Bjoner, Ilse Wolf and Vera Roza, and he has participated in international singing competitions in Brussels, Vienna and s' Hertogenbosch. Since 1985 Per Høyer has appeared in a number of concerts on Danish radio Swedish radio , Süd-West-Funk, Österreichischer Rundfunk, and has given concerts with several orchestras in Denmark, the rest of Scandinavia, Europe and the USA. He has recorded several studio productions and CDs. This has meant collaborations with conductors like Järvi, Segerstam, Salonen, Rozhdetsvensky, Viotti and Weller, and singers like Bruson, Behrens, Döse, Isokoski, Salminen and Vinzing. As an opera singer Per Høyer has appeared in La Traviata, Gianni Schicchi, Ariane auf Naxos, Carmen, Hansel and Grethel, The Magic Flute, Don Giovanni, Oberon, Wozzeck, L'Ange de feu, La Juive and Der Freischütz. In 1992-94 Per Høyer was with the opera in Nuremberg. In August 1991 he was awarded the Victor Borge Music Scholarship, and in August 1993 the Aksel Schiøtz Memorial Scholarship.
