Max Artved was born in 1965 and at the age of 12 joined the Tivoli Band, where he took lessons from Erwin Jacobsen. In 1980 he began studying with Professor Jørgen Hammergaard at the Royal Danish Academy of Music, where he made his debut as a soloist in 1990. He has also studied in Paris with Maurice Bourgue and in London with Gordon Hunt. In 1991 he was engaged by the Royal Danish Orchestra, and later the same year as a principal oboe in the Danish National Radio Symphony Orchestra. Max Artved has appeared as a soloist and chamber musician in many contexts in Denmark as well as in the rest of Scandinavia, Britain and Italy, and is regarded as one of the most talented soloists in his field in Denmark. He has received a number of prizes and honours, including the Jacob Gade Scholarship, the Gladsaxe Music Prize and the Music Critics' Artist Prize.
