Lars Juul studied composition with Svend Aaquist, percussion with Bent Lylloff, Aage Tanggaard, Ole Rømer, Ed Thigpen and Jakob Sæter. In 1991 founded the Sound Of Choice Ensemble with Hasse Poulsen and Jens Hørsving. From 1992 worked with the dancer and choreographer Esa Alanne on the dance productions Diary of a Madman and Sam Spade, for which Lars wrote the music. In 1993 founded Takuan with Flemming Agerskov and Jakob Davidsen. In 1994 worked with the American singer Anna Lea Bright on the CD To This Planet. From 1994 worked with the German trumpeter Markus Stockhausen on tours and radio recordings. From 1996 a member of the new group DDR with among others Peter Friis Nielsen and Jacob Riis. In 1997 worked with the English multi-instrumentalist Tim Hodgkinson. In 1998 composed music for Bolværksdanse with among others Royal Ballet solo dancer Karina Elver and choreographer Esa Alanne. Has in addition played with Fredrik Lundin, Thomas Clausen, Jørgen Emborg, Richard Boone, Debbie and Etta Cameron, Jesper Thilo and Bent Jædig.
