Kim Kristensen   (Born 1956)

Born in 1956, Kim Kristensen is both a composer and a musician (piano, synthesizer and flute). He has composed music in a wide spectrum of genres and in various jazz configurations ranging from small groups to big bands; for classical ensembles ranging from chamber music ensembles to symphony orchestra; as well as music for film, theatre, performance art and art exhibitions. But he specializes in electronic music. In 1994 Kim Kristensen received an award from the Danish Society of Jazz, Rock and Folk Composers, DJBFA. And in the same year he was nominated for a Danish Grammy for the CD Ildvæverne (The Fire Weavers). He has received several grants from the National Arts Foundation and other foundations. He also works as a teacher at the Rhythmic Music Conservatory in Copenhagen. Since 1985 he has composed for and played on more than ten CDs with a wide range of Danish and foreign musicians. On Dacapo he has released Erindringens Brønd (The Well of Remembering) (DCCD 9425) with the singer Mona Larsen in 1996.
