Jon Gjesme, violin, was born and grew up in Norway. For a number of years he has held the position as concertmaster in The Royal Danish Orchestra; he was earlier also concertmaster in the Oslo Philharmonic, and in January 2012 he became concertmaster in the Copenhagen Phil (Sjællands Symfoniorkester). Jon Gjesme also has an extensive solo career and has performed as a soloist with the Norwegian and a number of other the leading nordic orchestras, as well as Minnesota Orchestra in the USA. He has given concerts in Europa and Asia as a leader while playing with nordic chamber orchestras, a.o. The Norwegian Chamber Orchestra, the Trondheim Soloists and the Royal Danish Chamber Orchestra; in recent years he has been leading orchestras such as the Copenhagen Phil and Lithuanian State Symphony Orchestra as a condcutor. An active chamber musician Jon has recorded numerous cds, of which the latest features string quartets of Schumann and Ravel with Poseidon Quartet.
