John Bull   (1562 - 1628)

John Bull (approx. 1562-1628) was one of the leading keyboard virtuosos of his time and composed a number of works for organ and cembalo. Until he left England in 1613 he was “the king´s organist” for several years; in later years he lived in the Netherlands, first as an organist at Brussels, later as a cathedral organist at Antwerp. His relations to the house of Braunschweig-Wolfenbüttel is apparently only documented by these two movements; it is not clear whether or not he is related to the English instrumentalist Thomas Bull, who was “decapitated for Kronneborg because of his sins” in 1586.
