Jens E. Christensen (born 1946) is organist at the Baroque church ”Our Saviour’s Church” in Copenhagen and for more than twenty years he has been a teacher at the Royal Academy of Music. He studied with Professor Grethe Krogh in Denmark, Iberian music in Lisbon with Santiago Kastner, and Romantic and avant-garde music with Werner Jacob in Nürnberg and French music with Marie-Claire Alain in Paris. In 1980 he won a prize of the Danish Music Critics for playing Fernando Paer’s Organ Concerto. Jens E. Christensen has performed with the leading Danish orchestras for example in Vienna with the Danish Royal Orchestra in Pollen’s Organ Concerto. Jens E. Christensen has held master-classes in Norway and at the Royal Academy of Music in London. As a concert player Jens E. Christensen has performed in most countries in Europe, in USA, Japan, and has just returned from his third concert-tour to Russia. Many composers have dedicated their works to Jens E. Christensen, and for the Danish label Kontrapunkt he has recorded Iberian Organ Music, J.S. Bach’s Clavierübung III. Teil and Orgelbüchlein, the organ works of the Danish composers Franz Syberg and Per Nørgård, the Organ Concerto by Ib Nørholm, and Organ Pieces by Gorecki and Gubaidulina.
