The first European Jazz Youth Orchestra tour took place in July 1998 and toured 10 countries, all bordering on the Baltic Sea. Every year EJYO gathers 20 of Europe's most talented young jazz musicians, principally to promote and perform new music composed specially for them by European composers. By the year 2003 alle of 45 European nations will have been represented in the project.
