The Crossover Ensemble was formed in 1991 by Jakob Davidsen and ever since has been a band that has been hard to ignore. The ensemble has toured in Denmark, Norway and Sweden, has represented Denmark in the finales of two international jazz competitions in Overijse, Belgium (1994) and in Leverkusen, Germany (1995). In 1996 it released its debut CD The Crossover Ensemble. In 1997 the Crossover Ensemble expanded from a quintet to a nonet and toured under the name the Crossover Nonet Project in Denmark, Norway and Sweden. It was in this context that the present CD was recorded. The ensemble's music can be hard to pigeonhole. The basis is jazz, but strong influences from contemporary composition music, eastern music and rock have always been striking features of its music.
