Claus Myrup studied violin and viola with Professor Milan Vitek and Professor Josef Kodóusek at the Royal Danish Academy of Music. After his soloist Debut he received the prestigious prizes "Carl Nielsen Travel Scholarship" and "The Danish Music Critics Award". Since 1985 he has been principal vi<olist of the Danish National Symphony Orchestra where he also appears as a soloist. Claus Myrup is a highly acclaimed chamber musician who has preformed all over Europe - also as a soloist. As a former professor at the Academy of Music in Aarhus he features regularly in master-classes and as a judge in international competitions. His repertoire is extensive and he has performed and recorded a wide range of music both with the orchestra and as a chamber musician. His chamber music recordings include among others works by Brahms, Nielsen, Gubaidoulina, Pendericki, Kurtag and Shostakovich.
