Birmingham Contemporary Music Group (BCMG) was formed in 1987 by musicians from the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra and Simon Rattle, the Group’s Founding Patron. BCMG, based at the CBSO Centre, is established as one of Europe’s leading ensembles, and tours in the UK and abroad. The Group has won many awards for its work in attracting new audiences for contemporary music, and has an extensive learning programme, engaging a wide range of people with the composition and performance of new music. BCMG has strong relationships with its two Artists-in-Association Oliver Knussen and John Woolrich, and also with Thomas Adès.
