Percurama Percussion Ensemble

ensemble

This Danish Percussion ensemble was founded by Gert Mortensen, international percussion soloist since 1982 and professor at the Royal Danish Academy of Music. Percurama first attracted attention when in 2002 they devoted an all-night concert to the percussion music of Per Nørgård. That same year Percurama joined with ARS NOVA Copenhagen and Paul Hillier in presenting a unique version of John Cage’s huge “Song Books” in the famous Viking Ship Museum at Roskilde, creating a musicircus for voices, percussion, electronics and actors. The collaboration continued in 2003 with a concert series entitled “Minimal America”. Percurama has collaborated with ensembles in Bali and Cuba and performed on tour in Europe, Africa and the Americas.
