Klaus Ib Jørgensen (b. 1967) trained at the Royal Danish Academy of Music in Copenhagen in music theory with Yngve Jan Trede and composition with . Alongside his composing work he has been deeply involved ever since his student years in organizational and political work in the music field. In 1989 for example he was a co-founder of and since 1993 he has been President of the Danish music publishing house Edition SAMFUNDET. At present Klaus Ib Jørgensen is Vice-president of the Danish Performing Rights Society, KODA. Recent compositions include Slanted Rain (2009) for flute, percussion and piano, Le chant de Pyrène (2008), for recorder, sax and percussion and Rhapsodie der Farben (2006) for accordion, harp, flute and cello. Recent performances and projects have taken Klaus’ music to Paris (Festival Présences), Berlin (Unerhörte Musik), Amsterdam, Porto (Nørdic Focus Season in the Casa da Música), Montréal (Festival Nouvelles Musiques), Toronto, Halifax, Victoria and New York with musicians and ensembles such as Aventa (Canada), and (Denmark), (France), (UK / Denmark), Janice Jackson (Canada), (Denmark), Reflexion K (Germany), (Portugal), and several others. Klaus Ib Jørgensen’s music is published by Edition Samfundet Music Publishers, Copenhagen, Denmark. Several works are released on Dacapo Records.
