Hans Abrahamsen   (Born 1952)

composer

As a pupil of Per Nørgård and Pelle Gudmundsen-Holmgreen, Hans Abrahamsen has continued to develop the "New Simplicity" with which his teachers worked in the 1960s. With Abrahamsen this has led to a small but concentrated output of very original works. His music exhibits imagination, moving lyricism and spirituality.Hans Abrahamsen has almost exclusively composed instrumental music, and among his orchestral works Nacht und Trompeten has achieved international success. Abrahamsen started by playing the French horn, but even at a very young age he showed a remarkable talent for composition. In recent years Abrahamsen has mainly made arrangements of other composers' works.
